American Artist Bonnie Berget

Bonnie Berget is a painter who follows her heart whether working with fabric, wood, glass or paints. Her true creative passions is with the vibrant colors offered by Pastels. They allow her bold impressionistic painting style to use vivid and  subtle colors which are blended by the viewer's eye.

At the University of Wisconsin, she had planned to study to be a Home Economics teacher, however, when her curriculum presented her and alternate choice of fashion design everything changed. After graduation she returned to New York to continue her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology and attending art classes at the Metropolitan Museum while working for Family Circle Magazine as the assistant to the Fashion Editor.

Bonnie Berget would have liked to have stayed in New York longer to do more with her studies, but a great opportunity to move to Key West came up if she would marry her college sweetheart; this lead to further adventures of living in Thailand and Laos. No matter where she was, Ms. Berget found numerous ways to expand her knowledge of drawing and painting. In Thailand and Laos her specialty was Temple rubbings, until they were banned by the government.

After returning to the United States and settling in the Midwest for a few years, Ms. Berget was able to fulfill a lifelong dream to live out West in Colorado. She and her husband moved their young family to Denver. Here she primarily painted in watercolors and some oil until being required to paint with pastels in an art class held abroad in Provence painting 'the nude in landscape'. It became apparent to her that pastels were the most natural way to introduce vibrant colors into her drawings.

In Denver she was a member of the Colorado Pastel Society, Wheatridge Art League and Club Tuesday in Boulder. She moved to Santa Fe New Mexico in 2002 where she lives to this day and is a member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico and the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico.
